Efek Konsentrasi Dan Suhu Annealing Penumbuhan Nanorod Zno Dengan Metode Hidrotermal Untuk Aplikasi Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (Dssc)

ZnO nanorods and platinum nanoparticles have successfully been grown onto
solid substrates FTO (Flourine Tin Oxide) by using a hydrothermal and in situ
growth methods. This current study also analyzed the effects of concentration of
growth solution and annealing temperature of growth of ZnO nanorods as a
working electrode and platinum nanoparticles as counter electrode of DSSC ( Dye
Sensitized Solar Cells). The samples were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy,
XRD (X-ray Diffraction), FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Microscope), and
EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray). The UV-Vis spectra of the samples showed that
the ZnO nanorods were hexagonal grown on the substrate and the absorption of
the samples occurred in the wavelength range 315-400 nm. The XRD patterns
indicated that a diffraction peak at 36.253°, 31.770°, 34.442°, 47.339°
represented the presence of ZnO nanorods with their crystal orientation of (100),
(002), (101), and (102). The FESEM images showed that the sampels with a
variety of concentration of growth solution and a variety annealing temperature
produced the ZnO nanorods having diameter 20-155 nm. The EDX result showed
elemental composition of the samples were homogenized raises only two
elements, that were Zn and O. The peak of ZnO appeared at 1 KeV, while the
presence of O was confirmed by the peak of 0.58 keV. The EDX curve also
indicated the persence of ZnO nanorods, with the weight persentase of Zn and O,
respectively of 79.42% and 20.58% and atomic persentase of 48.58% and 51.42%.
Meanwhile, platinum nanoparticles were grown on FTO having diameter of 40-65
nm. The DSSC were fabricated by developing the sandwich structure consisting
of ZnO nanorods grown on FTO as the working electrode, electrolyte solution,
and platinum nanoparticles grown on FTO as the counter electrode. The
performance of cells were measured under halogen light irradiation of 100
mW/cm2, simulated by a filter AM 1.5 G. The analysis of I-V characteristics gave
the best efficiency of 0.1549% for the cell using ZnO nanorods with the
concentration of growth solution of 0.1 M and annealing temperature of 250ᵒC as
the working electrode and single layer platinum nanoparticles as counter
electrode.
