Simulasi Perancangan Dan Pengoperasian Serat Optik Mode Tunggal
The use of single mode fiber as a waveguide of communication over long distances increases due to small dispersion and attenuation so that the production of single mode fiber optics also increases to prevent large dispersion of fiber optics. A single mode fiber design simulation is performed using the OptiFiber application. Single mode fiber used in the simulation is SMF-28, SMF-28e, SMF-28e +, SMF-28e + LL and SMF-28 ULL which has a refractive index of core and cladding different while the core diameter, cladding diameter fiber optic and wavelength used at large. The quality of the optical fiber transmits light can be seen from polarization mode dispersion (PMD) caused by birefringence which results in differential group delay (DGD) polarized waves in an optical fiber. The simulation results show the single mode fiber that each fiber PMD value is very small. PMD value is greatest in the SMF-28 fiber that cause greater optical power is reduced compared to other optical fibers are simulated.
