Gambaran Farmakoterapi Penyandang Epilepsi Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Epilepsy is repeated convulsions two times or more than 24 hours without any definitive reason. During a seizures, a person loss his/her conciousness, abnormal behaviour or emotion, disruption of motor, and sensory. The purpose of this research was to identify characteristics description (age, gender, convulsion, how long the diagnosis) and pharmacotherapy description (categories, types, dosage, frequency, and side effects). This study was a observational descriptive which the primary data from guidance study interview and the secondary data was medical prescriptions sheet in policlinic of neurology Arifin Achmad General Hospital of Riau Province.
The sample was 54 patients. The results showed that dominant age range was early adults 26-35 (38,9%) which most of them were women with percentage 51,9%, most of the seizures was general seizures (64,8%), the most duration of the diagnosis were ≥ 2 years (88,9%). Most of antiepileptics group prescriptions consist of hydantoins (27%) in 100 mg given three times a day (14%), then followed by another antiepileptics group which mostly given topiramate (27%) in 100 mg with frequency two times a day (14%). In fact, the epilepsy disorder which did not feel any side effects consist of 80%. The pattern of antiepileptic pharmacotherapy prescribing is the first and second generation.
