Partisipasi Masyarakat Dalam Mitigasi Bencana Erupsi Gunung Sinabung Di Kabupaten Karo
Mount Sinabung in Karo district that returned to eruption 2010 then brought a
negative impact to the life of the people in the red zone, to reduce the impact of
the eruption Mount Sinabung government to conduct disaster mitigation.
However, the situation in the field shows that the mitigation is not optimal in
reducing the eruption impact of Mount Sinabung. This research aims to
determine: (1) Community participation in the mitigation of disaster eruption
Mount Sinabung, (2) factor of community participation inhibiting in the
mitigation of disaster eruption Mount Sinabung. This research uses qualitative
methods with a descriptive case study approach. The informant is taken using the
purposive sampling method. Data collection is done by observation, interviews,
and documentation. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive methods. The
results showed community participation in the disaster mitigation of Mount
Sinabung, both at the planning, implementation, benefit taking and evaluation
stages are still at low levels. The community's inhibiting factor in participating is
the level of education, low levels of public awareness, length of stay and the work
of the community. So BPBD Karo district need to socialize disaster mitigation
and conduct a review of disaster mitigation tailored to the needs and desires of the
community, other than that the community needs to be given training expertise so
that the community affected by Mount Sinabung depends not only on the
agricultural sector.
