Komunikasi Antarpribadi Petugas Lapas Dalam Pembinaan Narapidana Di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas II A Pekanbaru
Correctional Institutions in Indonesia have been stated in Law
Number 12 of 1995 article 1 number 3 which states that correctional
institutions, hereinafter referred to as prisons, are places to carry out the
development of prisoners and correctional students. Implementation of
development of prisoners based on the correctional system aims to make
prisoners fully human, as has been the direction of national development,
through an approach to strengthen faith and foster them so that they are
able to integrate fairly in group life while in Correctional Institutions and the
wider life (community) after serving the penalty. Efforts that need to be
done by providing Personality Development and Independence
Development with Interpersonal Communication. The research objective is
to describe and disclose the interpersonal communication between officers
and prisoners in the guidance and communication patterns applied.
The research method used is descriptive qualitative research
methods. This study uses Joseph A. Devito's Interpersonal
Communication Theory. Data collection techniques using interviews,
observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used interactive
model analysis by Miles and Huberman. The data validity checking
technique uses the extension of participation and triangulation of data
sources.
The results showed that officers applied openness, empathy,
encouragement, positive attitudes and equality in interpersonal
communication with inmates in coaching. Personality Development
(Religious Development, Legal Awareness Fostering, National and State
Awareness Fostering) and Independence Development (Sewing, salon,
rain coat making, laundry and cooking) in prisons using interpersonal
communication. However, interpersonal communication among officers
does not have a major influence on the development of prisoners, but the
awareness of each individual in receiving messages conveyed by officers.
As for the pattern of communication that occurs between prison officers
and inmates is a symmetrical communication pattern, which is based on a
sense of equality and equality as human beings who both have benefits
and mutual respect for one another.
