Uji Sifat Fisik Dan Mekanik Kayu Ekaliptus (Eucalyptus Spp) Yang Di Laminasi Menggunakan Perekat Epoxy
ABSTRACT
Wood is a renewable natural resource, Its use as a construction material
has been a long time ago, long before the development of concrete and steel
technology. The wood that is widely available today is fast growing wood with
small diameter and in poor condition, such as wood defects and low durability.
Eucalyptus wood is one type of wood that is prioritized for development in the
Industrial Plantation Forest program (HTI).
The use of wood is not limited only as whole wood but also as laminate
wood. Laminate wood aims to get a large and strong dimension of wood
structure. This study aims to determine the physical properties in the form of
moisture content and density and mechanical properties in the form of shear tests.
The wood used in this study is eucalyptus and the adhesive used is epoxy. The
shear strength test is divided into two tests, namely the solid shear test and the
laminate shear test. The moisture content and density test used a sample size of 5
cm x 5 cm x 5 cm and solid shear and lamination testing using a sample size of
6.5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm and the lamination was given a variation in the amount of
adhesive coating 30 MDGL, 40 MDGL and 50 MDGL as well as variations of the
adhesive press 8 kg / cm², 10 kg / cm² and 12 kg / cm². From the test, it was found
that the average value of water content was 14.81% and the average density value
was 0.726 gr / cm³. For the shear strength test, the average solid shear test results
were 33.97 kg / cm² and the lamination test results obtained in general that the
laminate shear strength has not been achieved. The results of the laminate shear
test showed varied graphic patterns and did not show an increasing trend for the
increasing number of adhesive variations. The damage in the laminate shear test
was that there was shear damage to the wood and there was shear damage in the
laminate section.
