Analisis Pendapatan, Konsumsi Dan Kesejahteraan Petani Kelapa Sawit Pola Swadaya Di Provinsi Riau
This research aims to analyze and determine the structure of income,
consumption patterns, factors that influence consumption patterns, and the level of
household welfare of independent oil palm smallholder farmers in Riau Province.
This research is also trying to provide input on the implications of policies to
increase the household income and welfare of independent smallholder oil palm
farmers in Riau Province. The sample of this research was 270 independent oil
palm farmers in 3 districts in Riau Province. The area sampling method used
multistage area sampling, while the sampling technique of respondents used the
snowball sampling method. This research used descriptive analysis and
multinomial logistic regression analysis to analyze the data.
The results of this research show that the household income of independent
oil palm farmers comes from oil palm farming, non-oil palm farming, non-farming
income, and non-working income. The largest source of income comes from oil
palm farming, which accounts for 59.36% of the total household income. On
consumption patterns, the allocation of household food consumption is smaller than
non-food consumption. Grains are the highest food expenditure, accounts for
24.08% of total food expenditure. While education expenses are the highest nonfood
expenditure, accounts for 37.18% of total non-food expenditure. Household
income, education expenses, number of household members, and working status are
the factors that influence the consumption pattern of the independent oil palm
farmer household. If there is an increase in household income, the expense of
education, and the cost of using labor outside the family member, the opportunity
for additional household food expenditure allocations will decrease. If the number
of family members increased, the opportunity for household food expenditure
allocation will be even greater. This research also shows that majority of
independent smallholder oil palm farmer households are in the prosperous
category and are not classified as poor households. To increase the productivity
and income of independent oil palm farming, proper and correct oil palm with good
agricultural practice is needed. Besides, it is necessary to replanting old, damaged,
and unproductive oil palm plants.
