Manajemen Komunikasi Dalam Upaya Literasi Informasi Hulu Migas Pada Dunia Pendidikan (Studi Pada Migas Center Universitas Islam Riau)
The upstream oil and gas industry is one of the largest industries in Riau Province, this sector provides high income to the region. However, the information developing in the society about the contribution of the oil and gas sector to regional development is just little and presumption. Unclear information about the upstream oil and gas industry and its contribution that cannot be justified in one of phenomena of operational in Riau Province. The oil and gas center of the Islamic University of Riau exists as an institution formed to become the center information for upstream oil and gas especially in Riau Province. Based on explanation above, it is important to conduct the research, how the management in this institution carrying out upstream oil and gas information by using literacy in field of education. Before carrying out information literacy, this institution took steps through communication planning starting from finding facts on upstream oil and gas information literacy, conducting communication planning, doing literacy activities, evaluating upstream of upstream oil and gas activities. This research aims to describe and analyze how the Islamic University of Riau oil and gas center conducts upstream oil and gas information literacy in field of education. The research used a qualitative method using the communication planning approach by Scoot M. Cultip and Allen H. Center. The data collection technique is done through in-depth interviews, observations and documents. The determination of informants was done through purposive method, namely as many as 10 (ten) informants. The technique of checking the validity of the data uses validation techniques by utilizing the type of source triangulation. The results showed that: First, the information literacy of upstream oil and gas is currently still minimum, so need efforts to carry out upstream oil and gas literacy, finally students are able to understand about the upstream oil and gas industry in field of education. Second, in the context of information literacy, the Islamic University of Riau oil and gas center prepares and plan 4 (four) programs, namely student’s educational visit, conducting discussions and webinars, literacy using social media and carrying out community service. Third, implementing activities that have been planned for 2020, only 2 can be carried out due before outbreak the Covid-19 so that practically only use non-face activities. Fourth, all programs are uncompleted and other strategies are needed to carry out information literacy in upstream oil and gas. Fifth, that upstream oil and gas information literacy in field of education is currently smallest.
