Komunikasi Terapeutik Antara Terapis Dengan Pasien Autis Menggunakan Teknik Smart Aba Di Pusat Terapi Anak Autis Cemerlang Pekanbaru

Autism is a developmental disorder in a person that has barriers to communication and social interaction. This study aims to describe the process and technique of therapeutic communication using the Smart-ABA method because cases of autistic sufferers in the province, especially Pekanbaru, are based on 410 data from the Riau Provincial Education Office and 138 in Pekanbaru (Riau Provincial Education Office, 2017).
Smart-ABA at the Anak Cemerlang autism therapy center targets autistic sufferers who are able to achieve mainstream, verbal conditions and get the regular schools. This descriptive qualitative study selected informants using purposive techniques and therapeutic communication techniques on the Smart-ABA method as research object.
Data were collected through interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the research results, Smart-ABA has four stages of the therapeutic communication process, namely initial recognition, evaluation, therapy, and evaluation. Communication techniques in therapy are coercive and instructive so that the patient is able to communicate in two directions.
Therapy focuses on the content of messages and how to convey messages to sufferers repeatedly and consistently in a systematic, structured, and measurable manner. In therapy, it is seen that there is a process of symbolic interaction, which is building meaning through the symbols that are created, besides that there is also coordinated meaning management to mutually unify the intentions and goals of conveying messages from therapists to patients.
