ABSTRACT
Economic growth, population and industrial and technological
developments have led to an increase in electricity consumption in Indonesia. As
a result, it will threaten the depletion of fossil energi sources. As is known to date,
power plants in Indonesia still depend on coal (50%), gas (29%), and oil (7%). So
it is necessary to develop renewable energi as a substitute for fossil energi
sources, one of which is a tool that can convert kinetic energi from wind into
electricity or called wind turbines. Wind turbines as one of the plants that have
great potential to solve the problem of electrical energi needs. This device is more
environmentally friendly, by utilizing wind to spin the generator through blades
mounted on the rotor and transmitted by gear and shaft. Wind turbines consist of
several main parts such as blades, hubs, shafts, gears, generators, tails, and
poles. Aerodynamic equations are used in the design of blades with the help of
software such as Q-blade to determine the characteristics and ferforma of the
blades, the help of Microsoft Excel in determining the geometry of the blades, also
by the help of Autodesk Inventor 2013 for modeling blades and other major
components of wind turbines. Thanks to the help of the software, the blades were
designed with a radius of 1.3 meters and a length of Chord at the base of 0.17 m
and a length of the Chord at the end of 0.34 m.
