Profesionalisme Jurnalis Perempuan Di Kota Pekanbaru Dalam Meliput Berita Kriminal
Professional journalists are journalists who carry out their duties according to predetermined competencies. Based on the data, the number of female journalists in Pekanbaru is less than male journalists. Out of 74 female journalists, only 4 journalists cover crime. Meanwhile, criminal coverage is the coverage that is the main presentation of every mass media. Even crime news often makes headlines in the media. Thus this study aims to determine the professionalism of female journalists in Pekanbaru City in covering criminal news according to professional criteria, as well as knowing the obstacles of female journalists in covering criminal news.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. This study was conducted on media in Pekanbaru City, Research subjects were determined by purposive sampling. The number of subjects in this study was 5 (five) people, consisting of the chairman of the Pekanbaru Independent Journalists Alliance (AJI) as well as the editor and Chief of Riaupos.co, a criminal journalist female at metroriau.com, a criminal journalist female at RRI Pekanbaru, a criminal journalist female at Riaupos.co and a criminal journalist female at Lancangkuning.com. The data analysis technique used was the interactive data analysis model of Miles and Hubbarman. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documaletation methods. The theory used is social reality theory.
The results showed that female criminal journalists who served in Pekanbaru carried out the journalist profession in accordance with journalist professional competence standards. Women journalists who cover criminal news carry out their duties properly and carry out the ethics of reporting criminal news in a professional manner. Some of the obstacles in reporting include coverage without time limits, meeting deadlines, gender equality and safety facilities and guarantees.
