Riau University has had a student affairs website since 2014, created specifically to meet the information needs of Riau University students. Since its inception, the student affairs website has been the most active website at the University of Riau. As time went on, the website's activity decreased until finally it was declared inactive at the beginning of 2019. Therefore, researchers conducted research aimed at knowing the process of managing the website and knowing the inhibiting factors in the management of the website in the field of student affairs at the University of Riau as a student information medium.
This study used qualitative research methods. The subjects of this study consisted of five informants who were selected using a purposive technique. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. The technique of checking the validity of the data uses triangulation techniques.
The results showed that the management of the website in the field of student affairs at the University of Riau as a student information medium was carried out using the POAC (planning, organizing, actuating, controlling) process. Planning is the process of planning goals, objectives and steps that will be taken to achieve goals. Organizing is the process of carrying out the planning according to the organizational structure in the field of student affairs at Universiatas Riau. Actuating is an act of motivating, providing management guidance and training, and rewarding the website manager. Controlling is the process of monitoring and evaluating whether the planned goals have been achieved or not. Then in the management process, several inhibiting factors were found, among which came from Human Resources (HR), technology, procedures, and documents. However, the most influential as an inhibiting factor in the management of the website in the field of student affairs of the University of Riau as a student information medium comes from its human resources.
