Presentasi Diri Social Climber Pada Kalangan Mahasiswi Di Lingkungan Universitas Riau

This research stems from the many phenomena or symptoms about social climber, especially those that occur among female students at the University of Riau. Social climber is an inappropriate effort made by someone who wants to reach a social status position that is higher than the actual state of himself. The purpose of this study was to describe the front stage and back stage of social climber students at the University of Riau.
This study uses a qualitative research method with a dramaturgy approach. The subjects of the study of Riau University who were taken based on technique snowball. While the object of this research is a point of attention of a study, namely regarding the self-presentation of social climber among female students in the Riau University environment by identifying the front stage and back stage. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview and documentation. The data analysis technique used an interactive data analysis model. To test the validity of the data, researchers used participation extension and triangulation.
The results showed that the front stage for social climber students at the University of Riau had aspects of appearance and style, which was shown in the selection of branded clothes and other accessories to make them look harmonious and different when in front of the audience / public. . The self-presentation in question is carried out in a certain setting or place, namely at Warunk Upnormal Panam Pekanbaru, Waroeng Wahid Pekanbaru and at Re Caffe Millenium Pekanbaru. The back stage for social climber students at the University of Riau had no striking appearance and manner aspects. This is in stark contrast to the self-presentation of the social climber of Riau University students on the front stage. It is shown by appearance and attitude, which is normal when not in public.
