Thesis writing as the final task has been determined through Government Regulation No. 30/1990 article 15 paragraph (2) namely: Exams can be held through semester exams, final exams of study programs, thesis exams, thesis exams, and dissertation exams. Although the thesis is not an absolute requirement in graduation, but the implementation policy is submitted to their respective universities. Riau University became one of the universities that determined the thesis as a condition for obtaining the bachelor's degree. But unfortunately, the thesis process does not always run smoothly for some students, where they experience obstacles, either because of health problems, economy, difficulty dividing time, lazyness, lack of reference or difficulty meeting lecturers, so they are unable to complete their thesis on time and threatened to drop out. In such threatened drop out situations, these final-level semester students will often feel anxiety that affects their concept. They also often feel pressured by the question "when is graduation?", as well as the uncomfortable feeling of seeing his partner or junior have been first at graduation.
To find out how the concept of students who are in the threat of drop out, this research uses qualitative methods with phenomenological approach. The research subjects were students who threatened to drop out at Riau University, using purposive sampling techniques. To obtain the data, the techniques used were participant observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The purpose of the research was to find out how the concept of students themselves threatened to drop out at Riau University, based on physical aspects, psychological aspects, and social aspects.
The results described that the concept of self in students threatened drop out generally tends to negative self-concept, both in the physical aspect, psychological aspect and social aspect. Where, the student experienced the distrust of being on campus, often anxious and worried, feeling offended, angry, disappointed, feeling failed, sad and became a more closed person to avoid questions or discussions related to the thesis process.
