ABSTRACT
The strength of the pipe can be seen from test which is carried out by applying
a compresive load to the cross section of the pipe, one of the tests carried out is by
a pressure test given by a press machine.
The manufacture of a hydraulic press machine with an electric motor drive is
made to (1) Obtain a hydraulic press machine with an electric motor drive, for
pipe testing. (2) Conducting compressive testing on pipes (3) Knowing the
phenomena that occur in the pipe section due to the influence of compressive
loads.
The process of making a hiydraulic pressmachine is carried out in
stages,namely: experiments to determine the maximum load pressure, planning
the manufacture, and manufacturing of machine elements. The engine driving
source is an AC ¼ HP electric motor with rotation of 2800 rpm. The
transmission system uses chains and sprockets with a drive shaft diameter of 100
mm and follower shaft of 19 mm. The frame construction uses U profile steel 100
x 50 x 5 mm and U profile steel 75 x 40 x 5 mm. Punger pump lever with a plate
thickness of 8 mm, and a tread press with a plate thickness of 10 mm.
This hydraulic press machine with an electric motor drive can press steel
pipes with a pipe thickness of 1-2 mm with a maximum diameter of 30 mm, with
the result of pressing in the form of fold and bends so that it is concluded that this
machine is able to test the strength of the pipe.
