Ketepatan Penggunaan Antibiotik Definitif Pada Pasien Pneumonia Geriatri Di Ruang Rawat Inap Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode 2018-2019

Pneumonia is an infection of the lung parenchyma involved bronchioles and
alveoli which can be caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Management in
patients in pneumonia is antibiotics therapy. Physiological changes in geriatric
can be affecting the choice of drugs and have a risk regarding the
inappropriateness use of antibiotics. This research was aimed to determine the
appropriateness of definitive antibiotics usage in geriatric pneumonia at the
inpatient installation of Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital of Riau Province period
2018-2019. The method in this study was retrospective descriptive using
secondary data in the form of a medical record. Sampling was done by the total
sampling technique and obtained 12 samples. The result of this research showed
that the most variation of definitive antibiotics used was a single antibiotic
(69,57%). The most type of bacteria that caused geriatrics pneumonia was
Pseudomonas aeruginosa (41,67%). The appropriateness of choice definitive
antibiotics (36,67%), appropriateness of dosage (96,67%), appropriateness
frequency of administration (66,67%), and appropriateness way of giving
antibiotics (100%). The limitations of this research were small numbers of
samples and the justification for the appropriateness of chose definitive
antibiotics were based only on the result of culture and sensitivity tests,without
considering the patient’s clinical condition.
