Gambaran Fungsi Kognitif Pada Penderita Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Dibeberapa Rumah Sakit Di Kota Pekanbaru
Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of metabolic diseases characterized by
hyperglycemia that can increase the risk of cognitive dysfunction through blood
vessel disorders, including those in the brain. The objective of this research was
to describe of cognitive function in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in some
hospitals in Pekanbaru City. This research implemented descriptive design with
cross sectional approach. The sample selection was done by using total sampling
method. The Data were obtained in form of primary data by interview using the
Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) questionnaire. The research results from
59 research subjects showed that the most type 2 DM patient characteristics were
aged 45-65 years (64.4%), of female gender (55.9%), suffering from diabetes >5
years (50.8%), obese (57.6%), having HbA1c level >7% (61.0%), and have
cognitive function decline (20.3%). In type 2 DM patients who experienced a
cognitive function decline, the most common were at the age of 45-65 years
(21.1%), of female gender (69.7%), suffering from diabetes >5 years (26.7%),
and having HbA1c level ≤7% (30.4%). Therefore, it can be concluded that some
type 2 DM patients in some hospitals in Pekanbaru City experienced a cognitive
function decline.
