Gambaran Skrining Methicillinresistant Staphylococcus Aureus (Mrsa) Pada Pasien Orthopedi Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a strain of
Staphylococcus aureus that is resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. MRSA
colonization is most commonly found in the nose, throat and perineum. Patients
with MRSA cariers are considered to increase the incidence of post-operative
complications in orthopedic patients. This study aims to determine the prevalence
and overview of MRSA screening in orthopedic patients in Arifin Achmad General
Hospital Riau Province. This research method is descriptive with cross-sectional
design using primary and secondary data of respondents. This study was
conducted on 34 respondents in the 3rd class of Surgical Ward at Arifin Achmad
General Hospital in Riau Province from January 2019 to March 2020. The results
showed the most patient characteristics were 18-65 years old (youth) and male
sex, with the most diagnoses is trauma. Only a few respondents had risk factors
for becoming MRSA careers, including a history of surgery in the past 3 months
(5.9%), history of antibiotic use in the last 6 months (2.9%), acute open wounds
(29.4%), history hospitalization (11.8%), culture history of MRSA (0%), and
referral from other hospitals (17.6%). Colonization of Staphylococcus aureus was
found in 9 respondents (26%) in the anterior part of the nose and no MRSA
bacteria were found (0%). The conclusion from this study is that MRSA bacteria
were not found in all samples because only a few respondents had risk factors for
becoming MRSA carrier.
