Gambaran Ankle Brachial Index Pada Penderita Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a collection of several metabolic diseases caused by
disturbances in the secretion and function of insulin. A diabetic patient can suffer from
many complications, one of which is Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), in the form of
disturbances in the function and structure of the arterial walls causing perfusion
problems in peripheral tissues. Diabetic patients can have an 8-30% risk. However,
the prevalence of PAD in DM patients is difficult to determine due to asymptomatic
PAD. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) examination is one of the tests that can be done to
determine the prevalence of PAD in DM patients by comparing the systolic pressure in
the leg with the systolic pressure in the patient's arm. This examination is easy, noninvasive,
and quantitative in nature with an ABI value
