Hubungan Aktivitas Fisik Dengan Kadar Hba1c Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Di Puskesmas Rejosari Pekanbaru
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease
characterized by hyperglycemia caused by impaired insulin secretion, insulin
action, or both. In controlling Type 2 DM, several parameters can be used, one of
which is the level of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c). Physical activity plays a
role in controlling glucose levels due to the increased use of blood glucose from
active muscle movements. This study aims to determine the relationship between
physical activity and HbA1c levels of type 2 DM patient in Puskesmas Rejosari
Pekanbaru. Physical activity was measured with the long version of International
Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Total respondent in this study was 28
respondents of which mostly were >45 years old (82.1%), female (67.9%), high
school graduate (64.3%), had a family history of type 2 DM (82.1%), overweight
(53.6%), moderate physical activity levels (50.0%) and had HbA1c levels ‘in
control’ (57.1%). Chi Square test showed that there was no significant
relationship between physical activity and gender (p=0.127) but there were
significant relationship between physical activity and body mass index (p=0.045)
and between physical activity and HbA1c levels respectively (p=0.000).
