Profil Penggunaan Obat Antiinflamasi Nonsteroid Pada Pasien Geriatri Di Bangsal Penyakit Dalam Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2019
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have many functions as
analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic drugs. Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory
drusgs are usually prescribed and purchased by public. Long-term
use of NSAIDs and overdose use may result side effects in gastrointestinal tract,
kidneys and cardiovascular. Effectiveness and side effect of drug are affected by
the body’s condition. The low level of body function in geriatric risks to increase
the incidence of side effect of a drug. This study was conducted to determine the
profile of NSAID use in geriatric patients in the Internal Medicine Ward at Arifin
Achmad Regional Hospital of Riau Province in 2019. The study design used a
retrospective descriptive using secondary data from medical records. The results
showed that there were 54 geriatric patients who received NSAIDs (29%) from all
geriatric patients, with the highest age group being 60-74 years (81.8%). Single
NSAID use was found in 51 patients (94.4%) with the most widely used group was
non-selective NSAIDs in 53 patients (98.1%). The most drug used was
paracetamol in 37 patients (68.5%). Based on the NSAID dosage used, according
to the therapeutic dose (83.3%), sub-therapy dose (13%) and excess therapeutic
dose (3.7%). This study concluded that the use of NSAIDs in geriatric patients
could be categorized as appropriate rational based on the indications for use,
type of NSAID and dosage used.
