Gambaran Faktor Risiko Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Di Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Tahun 2020
Diabetes mellitus (DM) Type 2 is a chronic disease in which the pancreas does not
produce enough insulin or when the body is not effective at using it. The World Health
Organization (WHO) estimates that 80% of the incidence rate of this disease occurs in
low- and middle-income countries. Data from the Riau Health Profile 2018, the incidence
of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and stroke in Riau Province in Pekanbaru City shows
68,505 per 100 000 population. Meanwhile, according to data from the Health Office of
the Meranti Islands District, there was an increase in cases, recorded from 2018 as many
as 979 cases to 2,490 in 2019. The purpose of this study was to assess the risk factors for
type 2 diabetes mellitus in Tebing Tinggi District in 2020. This research is a descriptive
study with a cross design. -Sectional study and total sampling method with 96
respondents. The study population was people aged 25 to 65 years who lived in Tebing
Tinggi District, Kepulauan Meranti Regency, Riau Province and collected data through a
questionnaire on risk factors for diabetes mellitus type 2.Based on the research results,
the most risk factors that affect the incidence of DM in Tebing Tinggi District based on
sociodemographics> 45 years of age as many as 67 people (69.8%), female gender as
many as 74 people (77.1%), work as a housewife as many as 61 people (63.5%), have a
habit of eating vegetables 41 people (42.7%), rarely ate fruit as many as 42 people
(43.8%), never ate meat as many as 41 people (42.7%), did not have the habit of
smoking as many as 74 people (77.1%), had no exercise habits as many as 73 people
(76%), are people with comorbid hypertension were 68 people (70.8%), 67 people> = 45

levels
