ABSTRACT
Electrical energy has a very important role in human life. So far, the main buffer
for energy needs is still relying on oil and coal. Meanwhile, it is inevitable that
fossil energy is getting thinner and scarce. Of the many renewable energies
provided by nature, solar energy is the most potential energy to be developed.
One of the methods used to utilize solar energy is the Thermoelectric Generator.
Thermoelectric is a device that can directly convert a temperature difference into
an electric voltage using the Seebeck effect. This study aims to utilize the heat
energy of concrete roads with cast concrete type class III K450 and asphalt road
type AC-WC using L-shaped copper plates as heat conductive media, 3 modules
of Thermoelectric Generator SP 1848, and a heatsink filled with water as coolant.
The test results show that the maximum power produced on a concrete road is
15.35 mW, while on an asphalt road it is able to produce a maximum power of
43.02 mW with solar radiation of 1022 W/m2. The test results show that asphalt
roads are better than concrete roads in producing electrical energy. From the
results of the research conducted, this research has the possibility to be further
developed as an alternative electric energy generator.
