ABSTRACT
Solar chimney power plant (SCPP) is part of the form of solar thermal collector technology. SCPP has
the working principle of absorbing solar thermal energy using a glass collector, then converting hot air
that flows into electrical energy through a turbine. Converging lenses can increase the output power.
This is because the converging lens can focus or focus the intensity of the light received. The function
of the focusing lens can increase the intensity of light that will be received by the receiver so that the
received light beam is larger than without a converging lens. This tool is made with 4 main components,
namely: transparent cover, absorber, buffer and concentrating lens. The support is made of reinforcing
steel which is formed into a circle. The heat sink is made of concrete and painted black to absorb more
heat and is formed in a circle. The heat sink is installed under the support and then a transparent cover
made of clear plastic is installed. At the top of the collector, a concentrating lens is installed. This study
aims to determine the temperature increase that occurs in the solar collector using a concentrating lens
and to determine the efficiency value of the solar collector using a concentrating lens and without using
a concentrating lens. The results of the tests carried out on the solar collector show that the solar collector
built without a concentrating lens can increase the air temperature and also increase the air flow that
enters it. The addition of a concentrating lens with a zigzag pattern has the effect of increasing the
temperature in the solar collector. So that through solar radiation, concentrating lenses can also improve
the performance of the solar collector. Wind power generated without concentrating lens average 0,5W,
with 21 concentrating lens is 1,38W, and with 36 concentrating lens is 1,56W.
