Gambaran Kualitas Hidup Pasien Kanker Di Masa Pandemi
The quality of life can affect the physiology and psychology of
cancer patients, and seen during the pandemic the application of social distancing
during medical treatment can cause anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness and
worry about being infected with COVID-19 in cancer patients. This study aims to
describe the quality of life of cancer patients during the pandemic at Arifin
Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. Methods: This research is a descriptive design
with a purposive sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 60
respondents with inclusion criteria of patients aged 25-65 years with a cancer
diagnosis and currently undergoing treatment. In this study, the instrument used
was the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire to assess the quality of life of cancer
patients. The analysis was used in univariate analysis. Results: The majority of
respondents are female as many as 49 people (81.7%), age range 46-55 years
(43.3%), the majority of respondents do not work as many as 47 people (78.3%),
breast cancer diagnosis as many as 37 people (61.7%), stage III as many as 29
people (48.3%), duration of diagnosis >1 year as many as 41 people (68.3) and the
majority of treatment actions were chemotherapy as many as 38 people (63.3%).
The results of this study showed that the majority of respondents had a moderate
quality of life as many as 58 people (96.7%), Conclusion: The quality of life in
cancer patients was assessed using EORTC QLQ-C30, obtained as many as 58
people (96.7%) had a moderate quality of life, so it is advisable to continue to
provide information about the conditions experienced during treatment and the
application of health protocols during the pandemic.
