Pengaruh Temperatur Post Weld Heat Treatment (Pwht) Terhadap Sifat Mekanis Material Baja A36 Yang Mengalami Pengelasan Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Smaw)
ABSTRACT
The welding process is used by manufacture field a lot, such as aircrafts,
automotives and shipping industries that aims to connect, fill in and cut the metal
off. One of the welding process type is called SMAW(Shielded Metal Arc
Welding). This type of welding process is the most used by industries because it
just need electrical energy as the heat source. The welding process create
residual stress cause of the diversity of high temperature between the welding and
the cooling step. The residual stress has to be reduced as much as possible to
prevent design failure. Therefore, I tried to applied PWHT (Post Weld Heat
Treatment). PWHT is method of heating back the metal that has been welding
before. This method is divided by two there are shot peening and pre heat method.
Form the research we can see that PWHT method affects the strength of tensile
and the hardness of material which could increase the elongation up to 22% at
highest temperature. At the hardness point, it will decrease down to 160HVN and
140HVN at HAZ area, also the material looks more homogen and decrease risk to
failed at the result of welding process. And it can be concluded that the higher
temperature we used doing PWHT the great endurance the material.
