Pengaruh Sulfur Sebagai Vulcanizing Agent Terhadap Stabilitas Marshall Campuran Aspal - Crepe Rubber
ABSTRACT
Natural rubber can be used as an asphalt additive, but natural rubber is easily
degraded by sunlight, so it is necessary to add sulfur to prevent natural rubber in
the asphalt mixture from being degraded. This study aims to study the effect of
sulfur when added to the manufacture of asphalt and rubber (crepe rubber) and
added to the manufacture of job mix on asphalt rubber marshall. Raw natural
rubber in the form of cup lumps was ground using a creeper to obtain crepe
rubber with dry rubber content > 90%, then masticated using an open mill. Next,
the crepe rubber was melted at 200◦C before being mixed with asphalt at 165◦C.
The ratio of rubber and asphalt in the specified mixture is 1 : 9. Sulfur is added
with levels of 0%, 1%, 3%, 5% (w/w). asphalt rubber mixture tested for
characteristics according to ASTM D6927. The best research results were
obtained when adding sulfur content when making job mix with 5% sulfur, having
marshall 1054.13 kg, VFA 86.17%, VIM 1.89%, VMA 13.36%, flow 2.90 mm and
MQ 367 ,93 kg/mm.
