Pengaruh Massa Dan Waktu Kontak Terhadap Proses Adsorpsi Biokomposit Spent Bleaching Earth (Sbe)- Spent Mushroom Substrate (Sms) Sebagai Adsorben Pada Air Gambut
ABSTRACT
Peat water is surface water that has a dark brown color caused by plant organic
matter and high Fe metal so that it requires effective and efficient treatment so
that it is suitable for use by the community. One alternative to reduce Fe metal
and color in peat water is to use an adsorbent made from biocomposite Spent
Bleaching Earth (SBE) and Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS). The purpose of this
study was to determine the efficiency of removal of Fe metal and color in peat
water, calculate the adsorption capacity and determine the appropriate
adsorption kinetics. The fixed variable used in this study was a stirring speed of
125 rpm with an adsorbent composition of 25% SBE and 75% SMS. The
independent variables used consisted of variations in adsorbent mass of 4, 5, 6, 7,
8 g and variations in contact time of 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 minutes. The results
showed that the highest removal efficiency of Fe metal concentration and color
was obtained at an adsorbent mass of 8 g and a contact time of 80 minutes with
the removal efficiency for Fe metal concentration and color being 65.85% and
52.33%, respectively. The adsorption capacity of Fe metal reached the highest at
a mass of 4 grams with a contact time of 80 minutes at 0.292 mg Fe/g. The
suitable kinetic model for adsorption using SBE-SMS biocomposite is pseudo first
order with a regression value of 0.9733.
