Rancang Bangun Dan Uji Coba Alat Ball Milling Sebagai Fungsi Putaran Tabung
Research on the design and trial of ball milling tools as a function of tube rotation
with the influence of the using iron balls and ceramic balls on milling tubes on the
magnetic suseptibility value of natural sand of the rokan river of Riau province
has been conducted. Sand samples are already in the Laboratory of
instrumentation and magnetism of Riau University and dried first in sunlight,
after that the magnetic and non-magnetic particles separated using iron sand
separator (ISS) and then ball milled using iron balls and ceramic balls with
variations time of 20 and 30 hours and variations speed 100 rpm, 150 rpm and
200 rpm. The sample's magnetic reliability is determined based on the total
magnetic induction and magnetic induction of the solenoid as measured by the
Pasco PS 2162 magnetic probe. The results showed that the value of magnetic
suceptibility increased along with the increasing time of ball milling, the speed of
milling rotation, and iron ball milling media has a greater suceptibility value
compared to using ceramic ball. Products with a milling time of 20 hours and a
speed variation of 100 rpm, 150 rpm and 200 rpm have magnetic susceptibility
values of 5204,053 x 10-5, 7203,505 x 10-5 and 8230,621 x 10-5 for ceramic balls,
7039,167 x 10-5, 10531,361 x 10-5 and 11175,020 x 10-5 for iron balls. Products
with a milling time of 30 hours using ceramic balls have a susceptibility value of
7299,370 x 10-5, 8422,350 x 10-5 and 9983,566 x 10-5 while using iron balls the
value of susceptibility is 10572,445 x 10-5, 11544,782 x 10-5 and 12914,270 x 10-5.
The highest susceptibility value is obtained at ball milling with a time of 30 hours
at a speed of 200 rpm. The magnetic susceptibility value belongs to the anti
ferromagnetic ilminite interval with a value range (220-380000) x 10-5.
