Evaluasi Kinerja Teknologi Modifikasi Cuaca Dalam Mitigasi Luasan Kebakaran Di Provinsi Riau
The phenomenon of large-scale forest and land fires in Indonesia occurred in 1982-1983, 1991, 1994, 1997, 2006, and 2015. Riau Province is among the top 5 provinces with the most fires in Indonesia. During 2017-2020, 3 regencies in Riau Province with the highest number of hotspots detected were Pelalawan Regency with 7206 points, Indragiri Hilir Regency with 5682 points, Bengkalis Regency with 4428 points. The government has implemented TMC activities to increase rainfall in the Riau Province area, especially Pelalawan Regency, Indragiri Hilir Regency, and Bengkalis Regency. This study aims to evaluate the performance of Weather Modification Technology in mitigating the extent of fires that have been carried out. The evaluation was carried out based on the analysis of the administrative map of Riau Province, the grid map of the area under study, TRMM rainfall and MODIS hotspots. Based on hotspot data and Landsat 8 satellite image map, the area of burned area is obtained. The results and discussion obtained that the TMC period that has been carried out based on the PCH value is said to be ineffective, based on the PHS value is said to be effective, and based on the PLS value is said to be effective. Recommendations needed in an effort to improve mitigation of forest and land fires are improved governance in peat areas, construction of boreholes as a source of water to wet peat and fire fighting in peatlands prone to fire, utilization of tides in coastal peat areas.
