COMMUNICATION STRATEGY OF THE TOURISM OFFICE OF RIAU PROVINCE THROUGH BUJANG DARA IN REVITALISING THE MALAY CULTURE OF RIAU.

The Riau Province Tourism Office uses Bujang Dara as a city icon in an effort to revitalise Malay culture, utilising it to convey messages, select media, and communicate cultural values through planned programs. This aims to represent and elevate the spirit of the region towards the revitalisation of Malay culture. The purpose of this research is to analyse the communicator's strategy, message, media selection, supporting and inhibiting factors, and communicants' responses to the efforts to revitalise Riau Malay culture through the Bujang Dara program by the Riau Province Tourism Office.
This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Determination of informants in this study using purposive technique with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. While the data validity checking technique uses extension of participation and triangulation.
The results showed that the communicator strategy by the Riau Province Tourism Office through Bujang Dara Riau as an important cultural communicator in revitalising Riau Malay culture with credibility, in-depth knowledge, strong communication skills, and active support from the community. Message Strategy by the Riau Provincial Tourism Office through Bujang Dara uses informative and persuasive message strategies through social media, direct participation, and distinctive taglines to influence people's knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour towards Riau Malay culture. Media Selection Strategy The Riau Provincial Tourism Office through the Bujang Dara program chooses print, online, and radio media selectively and adaptively, utilising the right media according to the characteristics of the message and audience to reach various levels of society. Support from various parties such as cultural experts and Malay customary institutions are important factors in the success of the revitalisation program, but time constraints and lack of programs are obstacles that need to be overcome to ensure the success and sustainability of Riau Malay cultural revitalisation efforts. The communication strategy through the Bujang Dara programme is effective in increasing community awareness and participation in preserving Riau Malay culture, with positive responses indicating the success of the programme in generating community spirit and involvement.
